Osmotic pressure of suspensions comprised of charged microgels

We determine the osmotic pressure of microgel suspensions using membrane osmometry and dialysis, for microgels with different softnesses. Our measurements reveal that solutions both ionic neutral is determined by free ions leave periphery to maximize their entropy not translational degrees freedom themselves. Furthermore, up a given concentration it energetically favorable maintain constant volume without appreciable deswelling. The where deswelling starts weakly depends on crosslinker concentration, which affects dimension; we explain this considering dependence bulk modulus particle size.
